Cheese lasagna ( Achma)

One of the varieties of traditional Georgian Khachapuri (cheese bread) with layers of boiled thin dough and cheese inside. As we used to make pasta sheets from scratch, it took lots of time and energy to make this meal from scratch, but since we can buy lasagna sheets here, it makes the dish much easier to accomplish. For cheese, we use combination of fresh and salty cheese, that can be easily substituted by mozzarella, feta and ricotta.

Cheese lasagna ( Achma) Directions


Ingredients (for 13X9X2 inch pan)

  • • 1 package of lasagna pasta sheets
  • • 1 pound of fresh mozzarella
  • • ½ pound of feta
  • • ½ pound of ricotta cheese
  • • 1 egg
  • • 1 stick of butter (melted)

  1. • Cook pasta sheets al dante, move in the cold water
  2. • Mix together all kinds of cheese and add one egg
  3. • Butter the pan and place one layer of pasta sheets on the bottom
  4. • Melt the butter in the bowl
  5. • Put the cheese mixture, pour some butter with the spoon and cover with another layer of sheets
  6. • Repeat the procedure to the top of the pan, cover with the last layer of sheets, brush with butter, cover with the foil and place the pan in the oven on 350 for about 40 minutes
  7. • Let it cool for a while and then cut into square pieces just like lasagna
